The Militia Assembly is the preparedness and public-safety pillar of the South Carolina Assembly. Its purpose is to organize capable people, useful skills, equipment, training, and communication so that communities are better prepared to respond when help is needed.
Its work may include emergency preparation, disaster relief, communications, search support, first aid, logistics, fire safety, neighborhood assistance, and the protection of life, liberty, and property through disciplined and lawful service.

The Militia Assembly develops practical readiness through training, organization, communication, logistics, and service to the people and communities of South Carolina.
Preparedness
Encourages members and communities to prepare for storms, emergencies, disruptions, and other situations requiring organized local response.
Training
Develops useful skills in first aid, communications, navigation, safety, logistics, search support, and emergency coordination.
Community Support
Assists people during emergencies through welfare checks, supply distribution, transportation, cleanup, and practical aid.
Protection
Supports the lawful protection of life, liberty, property, public peace, and essential community resources.
How the Militia Organizes
Effective response does not begin when disaster strikes. It begins beforehand through planning, training, communication, clear responsibilities, and dependable local relationships.
Needs Are Identified
Members examine local risks, available skills, equipment, communication gaps, and potential emergency needs.
People Are Trained

Community preparedness is not limited to one type of person or one form of service. Medical workers, radio operators, mechanics, drivers, organizers, cooks, tradespeople, veterans, and neighbors may all contribute valuable skills.
Participation may begin through basic preparedness training, first aid, emergency communications, equipment maintenance, logistics, planning, or support for community-service projects.
